ABOUT US
Natalie A. Bandele was born and raised in Detroit, Mi. She attended and graduated from Oak Park High where she developed a love for the arts and Architecture. She went on to graduate from Henry Ford Community College with a degree in A.S. with a concentration in Architectural Construction. Natalie also then attended Lawrence Tech. for a brief time. After watching a program on MTV some five years ago, Natalie gained inspiration form a young lady who made her prom dress from duct tape. Natalie had no desire to wear the duct tape but thought of an alternate use for it. Using her Architectural background Natalie began to toy around with duct tape, fabric and discarded food packages and created her first purse which she sold for $10.00 in 2002. Due to the great response and demand of her work, she started her business Native Soul dba/as Native Soul Designs in November 2004. Her “wearable art” has been featured on Altuse.com which is a website for alternative use for discarded products and the Detroit News & Free Press in Oct 30, 2009. Natalie is currently teaching duct tape crafts at different locations around the city of Detroit as well as working on private or orders from customers.
